Nollywood actress and broadcaster, Tope Olowoniyan emerged as the winner of the King of Boys Stay at Home Challenge, an intense acting competition sponsored by Malta Guinness.

Tope’s victory was announced on Instagram Live on Sunday night, August 10, by Kemi Adetiba, the acclaimed writer and director of the movie, alongside a representative of Malta Guinness. In addition to securing a major role in the King of Boys sequel, Tope Olowoniyan will also receive other incentives and prizes from the movie’s promoters.

Praising Tope’s acting prowess and the quality of her competition entry, Kemi Adetiba expressed that the KOB team will offer Tope “a very strong role” in the movie, indicating that production would commence soon.

Expressing her excitement, Tope Olowoniyan, who hails from Kogi State, stated that she was elated, honored, and completely overwhelmed. She described winning the challenge as the greatest thing that had happened to her in 2020, considering it a great honor to have even been considered for the competition.

It is noteworthy that Tope Olowoniyan also secured a role in the recent Nollywood remake, Rattlesnake, and has appeared in several Nigerian series, including Tinsel, Battleground, and Jenifa’s Diary.

King of Boys 1, a Nigerian crime political thriller written and directed by Kemi Adetiba, was arguably Nigeria’s biggest blockbuster of 2019, winning several categories at the AMVCAs. The highly anticipated sequel is expected in 2021.
