Leaders Arsenal are 5/2 second favourites to win the Premier League this season after another remarkable weekend of action.
Mikel Arteta would have expected his side to beat Brighton on Saturday – even though the Seagulls had won the previous three meetings at the Emirates Stadium. But Manchester City being held 2-2 at home by Crystal Palace and Liverpool’s goalless draw with Manchester United were bonus results for the Arsenal manager.
City led Palace 2-0 at the Etihad only for Jean-Philippe Mateta’s close-range finish and a 90th-minute penalty by Michael Olise to earn the London side a draw. City have now taken just seven points from their previous six league games and have failed to win any of their last three at the Etihad Stadium.
Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool are 11/4 third favourites and racked up 34 shots against an out-of-form United side at Anfield, but rarely looked like breaking the deadlock.
Elsewhere in the betting, Aston Villa are 14/1 to clinch the title after coming from behind to beat Brentford 2-1. The Villans are third, level with second-placed Liverpool but behind on goal difference and just a point off top spot.
Newcastle and Manchester United follow up in the betting at 150/1, with the former returning to winning ways following their European exit with a 3-0 victory at home to Fulham.
