Luther Vandross Biopic in the Works

Jamie Foxx and Colin Firth are in charge. The family's on board so I wonder if they'll get into Luther's sexuality. If anything, they better show fights with Anita Baker.

Get the fat suits and the Oscar ready!

by Anonymousreply 2July 11, 2023 2:48 PM

Jamie Foxx isn’t even in charge of himself anymore..

by Anonymousreply 3July 11, 2023 2:53 PM

Billy Porter IS Anita Baker!

by Anonymousreply 4July 11, 2023 2:55 PM

My guess is that they'll give his sexuality minimal attention or else Vandross' church lady fans will stay away. It'll be treated as his lifelong "struggle" under the glare of his musical success.

by Anonymousreply 6July 11, 2023 2:58 PM

Yep, this'll be as diluted as the Cole Porter biopics.

by Anonymousreply 7July 11, 2023 2:59 PM

I’d love to see an honest biopic about his life.

by Anonymousreply 8July 11, 2023 3:01 PM

One of the most beautiful men I ever met was a young, Italian-American guy in the early 90s.... was Vandross's live-in lover and had to leave because of addiction. I always heard Vandross's "yearning" in his voice differently after meeting the guy.

R5 I think you mean....COLIN FIRTH?

by Anonymousreply 10July 11, 2023 3:04 PM

Colin firth? Colin Nasty!

by Anonymousreply 11July 11, 2023 3:44 PM

So, do they start filming skinny bitch Luther and then he gets fat, or fat bitch Luther and then he gets skinny?

by Anonymousreply 12July 11, 2023 3:49 PM

OP, they are making a documentary, NOT a biopic. I don't know who's dumber, you or the 7 lemmings who came after you asking who was going to play Luther.

by Anonymousreply 13July 11, 2023 3:49 PM

Thanks for the correction, R23. Also, fuck off.

by Anonymousreply 14July 11, 2023 3:53 PM

Lmao wow R13 is right. And if it wasn’t clear enough, the director only makes documentaries. OP shit the bed on this one.

by Anonymousreply 15July 11, 2023 3:53 PM

[quote] Thanks for the correction, [R23]. Also, fuck off.

Would you like ANOTHER correction, R14?

by Anonymousreply 16July 11, 2023 3:55 PM

Just making it fun for you.

by Anonymousreply 17July 11, 2023 3:56 PM

Girls! Girls! You're both scum!

When I was a kid, I remember him being on Oprah talking about losing weight. He said his lowest point as a fat person was running out of hamburger buns and using Krispy Kreme donuts as a replacement.

Oprah and the audience were in SHOCK at the absolute depravity.

Cut to 30 years or so later, you can go to Hardees and get a donut burger whenever.

On some level, Luther won.

by Anonymousreply 19July 11, 2023 4:13 PM

Did he really, r19? He died of a stroke!

by Anonymousreply 20July 11, 2023 4:16 PM

Please. Like Oprah and the fellow porkers in her audience wouldn't have put a burger between two pot holders and eaten it.

My favorite male vocalist. On par with Whitney Houston.

by Anonymousreply 22July 11, 2023 4:55 PM

R19, there was a story that Oprah used frozen hot dog buns as waffles and poured syrup all over them. Not sure if it's an old wives' tale or if Oprah herself said it. It was around the time that she got scary skinny.

by Anonymousreply 23July 11, 2023 4:58 PM

The old maple bun diet. My grandmother swore by it.

by Anonymousreply 24July 11, 2023 5:04 PM

Didn’t Oprah admit to inhaling Mac and cheese after het pet project Beloved tanked with the critics and stunk up the box office?

Or did some witty DLer make it up?

by Anonymousreply 25July 11, 2023 5:29 PM

R25 - I remember years ago Prince had a chef who quit because he said that Mac and cheese was all that Prince wanted to eat.

What a dumbass! The chef, not prince. Getting paid to make Mac and Cheese!

by Anonymousreply 27July 11, 2023 6:46 PM

But let's pretend it will be a biopic.

Carry on.

by Anonymousreply 28July 11, 2023 8:21 PM

He was a beautiful man. And this voice was so expressive and smooth.

by Anonymousreply 29July 11, 2023 9:18 PM

He was a great singer but in the end his music became so boring and contrived. I came to despise that “Here and Now” song, which became an anthem for black weddings. And the duet with Gregory Hines (who I loved nonetheless).

by Anonymousreply 30July 17, 2023 4:11 PM

Get up off dat pussy, Loofa!

by Anonymousreply 31July 17, 2023 4:17 PM

You gals have me roaring with laughter over this thread!

I read once Luther’s voice was “like red wine pored through silk”.

by Anonymousreply 34July 17, 2023 4:44 PM

Better than clotted milk sliding down a velvet funnel

by Anonymousreply 35July 17, 2023 8:20 PM

Luther's voice was as smooth as a 10 inch dick sliding in and out of his sloppy hole, coated with KY Lube!
